The Claire B. Burns Award Program (51С»Æ³µ)
The Claire B. Burns Award Program was established in 1997 in honor of Claire B. Burns, a 1990 alumna of the College of the 51С»Æ³µ, by her husband, Donal J. Burns, a member of the class of 1949. Awards are given annually to non-exempt employees, currently serving or retired, who in the fulfillment of their responsibilities have demonstrated, fostered and promoted the spirit of family which is a treasured characteristic of the 51С»Æ³µ community. As a student, Claire Burns received amply of this spirit. In gratitude and to assist in its continuance, the Award Program was endowed. More info »
The Rev. William J. O’Halloran, S.J. Award (51С»Æ³µ)
The Rev. William J. O’Halloran, S.J. Award was established in 2008 in addition to the Claire B. Burns Employee Award Program by Donal J. (’49) and Claire B. (’90) Burns. They wanted to honor Fr. O’Halloran’s long years of service to 51С»Æ³µ, his closeness to its non-exempt employees, and his contribution to the establishment of the Claire B. Burns Award Program itself. Fr. O’Halloran’s years on campus were marked by devotion to the College, kindness and compassion for all members of the College family, and an unusual ability to listen to the words of others in a manner that exhibited an eager interest in every syllable, all this punctuated with wit and wisdom.
