Influenza Information

Habits you should do everyday to prevent the flu:

Wash your hands frequently. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth. Avoid close contact with people who are sick. Don't share drinking glasses, utensils or towels. Alcohol does not kill germs, drinking games can be a source of spreading respiratory infections. Get enough sleep and eat well to maintain your immune system.

Symptoms of the flu include a fever of 100 degrees or more AND a cough and/or sore throat. Other symptoms include congestion, body aches, headache, chills, fatigue, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.

All high risk students (history of asthma, pulmonary disease, diabetes, heart disease, liver or kidney disease and autoimmune diseases) with influenza symptoms should make an appt. with their provider or with Health Services at 508-793-2276.

We strongly recommend all students and employees get their seasonal flu vaccine each fall!

The seasonal flu vaccine protects against the three to four main seasonal flu strains that research indicates will cause the most illness during the flu season. The seasonal flu vaccine can protect you from getting sick from these viruses or it can make your illness milder if you get a related flu virus.

Health Services hosts flu and COVID vaccine clinics each fall, keep an eye on this website, your email and myHC for offerings in Fall 2024!
