The Arabic Program is housed in the Department of World Languages, Literatures, and Cultures.

Opportunities

The Arabic program offers students dynamic learning opportunities both in and out of the classroom, and supports students interested in broadening their studies.

Middle Eastern Studies

Offered through the , students may pursue a degree in Middle Eastern Studies, which combines various disciplines such as political science, history, and religious studies.

Study Abroad

Foreign Language Assistants

In small group sessions, students studying Arabic have the opportunity to practice the language with an Arabic speaking  (FLA). The FLAs bring textbooks to life with interactive activities aimed at reinforcing classroom lessons, while simultaneously offering students a direct connection to the contemporary culture of the FLA’s native country.

After Graduation

Arabic is the primary language used for communication in the Middle East and is considered a “critical language” by United States government agencies. A knowledge of Arabic can further careers in law and diplomacy, business and trade, journalism, and education.
