About the Speaker: Rev. Ismael Moreno Coto, S.J., popularly known as Padre Melo, is a Jesuit priest and human rights activist in his native Honduras. He is director of Radio Progreso, a Christian-based radio station that is a national leader in investigative reporting, and a director of the Center for Reflection, Research, and Communication, a think tank that conducts research and reports on societal trends and public opinion in Honduras.
About the Lecture: Padre Melo outlines five contributing factors for why Honduras is the most violent country in the world. He also provides suggestions for his American audience to help effect change. His talk is in Spanish wiith translation by Elizabeth Perkins, a member of the Witness for Peace team working in Nicaragua and Honduras.
