About the Speaker: Rev. David Brown, S.J., a member of the U.S. Central and Southern Province, joined the Vatican Observatory in 2008 after earning his Ph.D. in astrophysics at Oxford. His work focuses on various aspects of stellar evolution, and he has published a number of peer-reviewed articles on binary star interactions in different environments. He also serves as caretaker of the telescopes at Castel Gandolfo, the Vatican Observatory headquarters near Rome.
About the Lecture: Fr. Brown talks a little about the Vatican Observatory and his roles there, as well as current trends and research in the field of astronomy. He then considers the broader questions of the universe and how these fit in with Catholic belief.
