Education

Study the psychological, historical, political and social dimensions of contemporary education.

Consistent with the mission of the College and the Jesuit principles that guide us, Department of Education is explicitly oriented to social justice. The programs seek to direct you toward activism and vocational pursuits that create and expand opportunity, especially for historically underserved and marginalized populations.

Why Study Education?

Our program allows students to be in local schools as part of field-based experiences linked to their course work, even in the very first courses they take. Often, these field experiences can be a good way to evaluate whether education is the right choice of a program. If education is the right path for you, you have the opportunity to become a highly effective, reflective, justice-seeking educator, whether actively teaching in a classroom, effecting policy or leading an education-related nonprofit.
